There are some items of clothing which are timeless and should always be there in your closet. Some of them you may know, like the ubiquitous LBD or "little black dress" and some you may be not that sure of. To help you out, here are three of them.
• A neutral-colored trench coat: A trench coat is a versatile piece of clothing which every woman should have in her closet. You can wear it virtually anywhere; to your office, a party and even formal events like wedding or going to the opera. They go with all kinds of clothes and are found in various lengths to suit all body types. A good trench court will accentuate your shoulder and make your waist look slender. The color to go for is either camel or navy so that it can be worn with any other dress. As a rule, it should always be larger than your skirt's length unless of course you are wearing a mini trench coat with a pencil skirt.
• A white shirt: Like the LBD, this is one piece of clothing all fashionistas will insist that you have in your wardrobe. As with any classic fashion item, a white button-down shirt goes with everything from formal pants to your everyday jeans. As for material, it is always better to go for wrinkle-free ones and make sure it well tailored to fit you well. To make sure you can wear it with anything, keep the length medium. Also go for simple designs around the bust area. While buying one, make sure that the shirt is not gaping at the bust.
• A well tailored suit: Make sure your closet has a classic two or three button jacket in basic colors like black, blue or gray and a matching pencil skirt or pant. While choosing this piece of clothing, pay great attention to the quality of the fabric. Go for lightweight, seasonal fabrics like rayon or gabardine. Also make sure it is tailored to fit you.
Being fashionable does not mean spending a fortune on your clothes and accessories; it means knowing what suits your body type and following those current trends that flatter it. With these items in closet, you will be ready for the world in your own personal style
