Best Dedicated Hosting - Choosing the Best One

So you have made the decision to finally get a dedicated web hosting server. This can be an overwhelming decision, because there are so many web hosting companies out there. Furthermore, you do not want to fall for a web hosting company that is going to trick you into a long-term commitment, like common cell phone companies do.

Windows vs Linux

The first thing you need to know about a dedicated server is what OS (operating system) do they run on their dedicated server. Linux will be cheaper than Windows, because linux is an open sources operating system, whereas, Windows is a commercial based operating system. Linux does offer more flexibility and support, so I would highly recommend choosing an dedicated server that uses the Linux operating system.

Cost is Important

Always be careful when comparing packages. Just because one dedicated web hosting service is cheaper than the other, doesn't mean it is better. You simply get what you pay for if you make a decision based on price. Dedicated servers are nothing to skim the price on. You want good uptime, support, and speed with your dedicated server, as well.

There are couple things you consider when choosing a hosting company other than cost and what operating system they use. Do they offer data backup, hardware options, monitoring service, bandwidth, and technical support. These are big bonuses that score brownie points with any dedicated hosting service. I would recommend that you email your hosting provider to get a couple websites hosted by them for reference. You could check out their performance yourself, as well as email the owners to see what they say about the hosting service.
